Bible Stories: The Walls Of Jericho Fall Down
After Moses had died God chose Joshua to lead the Children of Israel into their promised land called Canaan. But two things stood in their way the River Jordan and the city of Jericho. The Priests carried the Ark of the Covanant - a special box which contained the 10 Commandments.
As they approached the River Jordan, Joshua told the priests to lead the people into the river. As soon as the priests did this God parted the water so the Israelites crossed over on dry ground. The next thing the Israelites had to face were the soldiers of Jericho. God gave Joshua instructions on what they should do. “March your people around the city walls for seven days. Carry the Ark in front of you. On the seventh day have the priests blow one long blast of their horns. At the same time, have everyone give a loud shout.”
The Children of Isael did what God had told them to do through Joshua. They marched around the city and on the seventh day, when the priests blew their horns all the people gave a loud shout and the walls of Jericho came tumbling down. God had given the city into their hands.
